Our Story

A business built on service, value and quality

Bill Oaten first opened the Kyogle Appliance Centre in 1973. Selling electrical appliances, Bill developed a reputation for value and service, later expanding into furniture in a second store.

Several relocations, store mergers and a rebranding saw the business evolve into the impressive modern showroom that Oaten’s is today.

A major remodelling project in 2003 doubled the showroom floor to 2000m2, making Oaten’s home to the largest display of fine furniture and quality household goods between Port Macquarie and Tweed Heads.

We love modern living

Our focus on quality and classic styles has seen Oaten’s not only stand the test of time, but also emerge as a unique player among the bulk-buying, cut-price chains found in big cities.

We’re talking handcrafted Tasmanian timber tables, luxurious Norwegian leather lounges, and super soft sofas made to order in Melbourne, to name a few.

Oaten’s is also the exclusive retailer in their area for quality brands such as Stressless and IMG Comfort.

Our Story

Oaten’s has come a long way.  From humble beginnings in 1973, Oaten’s has evolved into a modern 2002m² showroom which boasts one of the largest displays of exclusive fine furniture and household products between Port Macquarie and Tweed Heads.

Family-owned and operated, the Oaten’s team has a strong reputation across the Northern Rivers region for their service and knowledge.
